The Commodore 64 Emulator In Silverlight

I loved the 80's. I still find myself listening to 80's music and watching 80's movies. As a computer geek you may remember the Commodore 64. It was released in 1982 and sold for around $600 USD. It was an 8 bit home computer and had 64 KB of RAM. During it's time it sold over 30 million units and was the most popular personal computer model of all time. Fast forward to the year 2009. You just got done watching the Back to the Future box set and ripping your Devo albums to MP3. Now you want to sit back on the recliner, drink a Tab cola, and tinker with your Commodore 64. What! You don't have a C64 anymore. Well don't fear, The Silverlight C64 project is here. The Silverlight C64 project on codeplex, is just another shining example of the insane things you can do with SilverLight. The emulator was demoed at the MSDN conference I attended last week and I was really impressed by it. Pete Brown did a fantastic job porting the C64 to Silverlight. My Favorite Computer Nerd Movies of All Time

When you are a computer nerd you tend to see the world in a different light. For example, I will look at a license plate and make a technology related acronym out of it. The other day when I pulled into my local Target I saw one that started with the letters BMR and my brain automatically associated it with the phrase "Business Management Reporting". I know it may seem strange, but I can not control it, I am a computer geek and my nerdy-ness is involuntary. Anyway, I thought for today's post it would be fun to share my top 10 favorite geek movies of all time. So without any further ado, here they are: # 1. Antitrust - This movie is the fictional story of computer programming genius Milo Hoffman after graduating from Stanford and getting out into the competitive world of computer software. In his contemplation of where to begin his career, he is contacted by Gary Winston whose character is loosely based on Bill Gates. Winston is the CEO of a company called NURV, and they are on the ... I recently completed a series of articles on how to create a Frogger clone in Silverlight. Since the article was posted, I received quite a few emails from people requesting a copy of the source code. Therefore, I decided to post a modified version of the article along with source code on the codeproject.com.

Play Quake Online With a Browser!

If you asked me, my favorite all time game is definitely Quake II. I remember building a new PC just so I could run Quake II in Open GL with a decent frame rate. Back then hardware was very expensive and my job at the grocery store did not allow me to have a budget for new hardware. Since then PC’s have become very powerful and a lot more affordable. I think I have more processing power and storage space on my Blackberry then I had on my PC 10 years ago. Anyway, it is amazing how the times have changed. With that said, gaming technology is also evolving. Game development studios are shifting towards online gaming and even browser based games. Believe it or not, this new version of Quake is built to run directly from your browser! Here are the minimum requirements.  In order to play you just need to signup at http://www.quakelive.com. Once you established a login you will need to install an Active-X control, restart your browser and voila! You are ready to p... [More]
